who says they know?
They could find out using IP addresses
They could, if the imposter was stupid enough to stay connected using the same IP as when they were using their actual username.
Many of us have broadband, and it'd be pretty easy to tell since your hostmask gives narrows it down to only a handful of people who use ISP X in Location Y.
An argument against static IPs then ;)
Imposters are real pain. These people spoof by using chr(161) for character i.
You should do something about this. Filburt1 already has many clones...add this trick and you get another one to his zillion clones.
All members with 'i' in their name... be warned !

They are not the same because..
The space between the words earl, of and Gonds
is Ascii character 32 while in the second case it is Ascii character 160.
So a little warning to people using Multi part Names separated by space.
