jeez filburt, you just love saving links and giving them back to people don't you
I just searched the board, unlike many people.
This problem could have been easily solved if the server maintains
a standard GMT (no daylight savings) and let the members choose a value to add against it - their own version of time.
Does the UK use daylight savings?
Why not ?
Dunno, you guys are a little different over there, five hours in the future. :D :D
Not only are they five hours in the future, but you can skip from Paris or London back to New York on the Concorde and "create" two hours in your day. Seems very handy for stock market people going from the London to the NYSE, but I don't see how it's worth it for the thousands of dollars it costs to ride that thing.
We have B.S.T. (British Summer Time) which I think is the same thing. (Clocks go 1hr forward in autumn & back again in spring)Quote:

We do the opposite. Spring forward; Fall back.
No, my mistake we go 1hr back in autumn and 1hr forward in spring.
I would never have made that mistake if it wasn't for Germany
(Englang 5 - Germany 1) and their beer.
No, you can't any more (although maybe in a couple of weeks)Quote:

It doesn't make sense to talk about a 'standard GMT with no daylight savings'. GMT IS standard, by definition. When the time in the UK changes for Summer, that doesn't change GMT: the UK's time changes to GMT+1 and back to GMT in the autumn, and GMT stays the same. That's how it can be used in air traffic control- known as Zulu I believe, it never changes.
I've got an idea: I've just added to my signature that my time is GMT+2 (ie, UK+1!)- why don't we all put our time zones in the signature, preferably as offset from GMT or otherwise in terms of your own zone like PDT or whatever although that still won't help the likes of me!
Well there is an option i your user CP to change the displayed offset.
hmm, yes. Just because the plane slipped on a piece of foil and fell over into a hotel you have to ruin everybody's time-travelling abilities. Well nuts to you.Quote:
