Has anyone tried out the new IE6?
Yeah, it's cool. No stability issues (that's what you get for Windows 2000 :p) and it blocks cookies from Doubleclick, Admonitor, etc.
Page redirects no longer work, I don't know if I ****ed that up or if it's IE6. It's really annoying here when it is used so extensively. Anyone?
I dunno what you're talking about. Do you have Javascript--oh, sorry, Active Script --on?
Yeah, but redirects are META refresh tags, not javascript.
Got an example of a page?
It's used everywhere, but when you submit a reply to a post on vBulletin, it brings you to this "Thanks for posting your reply, you will now be redirected..." page. The line for that, placed neatly in between the <head></head> tags is:
In that example, the browser would hold you at the page for 20 seconds, then automagically load up Disney. It doesn't work for me.Code:<META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="20;URL=http://www.disney.com">
The board still works fine for me, including those redirects.
It's probably not the board, I've just got a switch or checkbox or something somewhere that's not where it should be.
but do you recommend it? is it worth a d/l?
If you have broadband, everything is worth a download just for the hell of it. :D :D
Seriously, yes, I have liked it so far.
<bump>
So if, for aurguments sake, my name was Mr. 56k and I didn't live anywhere near Mr. ADSL or Mrs. Cable, would one recommend the transfer of IE6 from MS to my good self? How much weight does this browser carry?
It really doesn't make any change to the handling of the protocol (HTTP and FTP), only to the interface.
That's Page 56K, Sir ADSL and Baroness Cable.Quote:

So pardoned.
I believe it's 52 mb's if that's what you were asking for.
I posted another IE 6 thread in chitchat a couple of days ago. The thread has a link to a site that explains how to d/l IE 6 without having to use Microsoft's online d/l procedure...:)
does anyone have a collection of screenshots?
