I think it's safe to say that any plane not heading for it's designated diversion airport is going to be shot down.

So hopefully thats the end of the building crashes, but god help the people still on any hijacked plane.

our news said that they wernt sure if it was the plane that crashed in Pittsburg or whether there is another one. Apparently the airlines arnt denying the fact that there is possibly a 5th

Apparently any plane flying around is liable to be shot down.

They've evacuated the City (in London) but there's lots of people concerned around here about Qinetiq (what was DERA) - which is about a mile from my house, and GCHQ in Cheltenham.

Katie is on Edwards AFB, so she can shed some more light on this if she is available this morning.

It seems several military units are being mobilized. I can only hope they are being sent to the 5th Fleet (Indian Ocean).

Someone mentioned that today is the anniversary of the the death of the founder of the State of Palestine. Can someone shed some light on that?

It has certainly transformed as a symbol. One great irony of the towers is that they were built to withstand a 747 slamming into them - the disaster scenario of a more "innocent" era. No one in the mid-'60s, when the buildings were designed, could have anticipated that thirty years later the threat would not come from a stray airplane - a symbol of the machine age gone awry - but from modernity's discontents: terrorists who knew the building's true vulnerability was in its basement. Fortunately they didn't know how to build a bomb that would do what they wanted."

US has closed borders with canada and mexico...interesting

FAA has confimed 4 commercial planes in total have gone missing, so I think thats the end of it.

Can you believe they are actually celebrating this in palestina?
These people have no moral values at all, how can somebody be happy about the death of thousands of people. It's just horrible.

I'm scared that other targets will be attacked around the globe (certainly in europe).

I think that the usa and europe must send a strong (military)signal back to them.

US-Canada border is still open near us.

Afghanistan has distanced itself from the attacks.

Even the palestine news agency seems shocked http://www.albawaba.com/

and interestingly on the chat forum the people don't seem to be celebrating, rather they are confused.

And our building has gone to Orange plus one alert. Like I'm supposed to know what that means???

My wife watched the film of them collapsing. She says, it looks almost like there was a third explosion which collapsed the buildings. Could this have been the case? A bomb left to trigger after the aircraft hit? Or just the weight of the unstable building collapsing might have made it look like another blast.

One of the many horrible things about this is that apparently all the rescue workers were at the base of the building when it collapsed.
