Does anybody have more news. I just saw one building buring and I think it was the World Trade Center Building. Some people say that Pentagon was also hit but I have not heard about it yet.

Capitol Hill explosion was from BBC. Car bomb apparently. I think thats where the US State dept. mentioned earlier is.

25,000 hit by terror trade attack

Terrorists have crashed two hijacked jet airliners into the 110-storey World Trade Centre in New York - destroying both of the twin towers where 25,000 people work. A third aircraft has crashed into the Pentagon - where two explosions were reported - and the White House was evacuated after the Security Service received a threat against the president's official home. The State Department - the subject of a car bomb attack - has also been evacuated. All airports in the US are closed and Wall Street has been shut down. Thousands are feared dead and injured.



Witnesses tell of Trade Centre terror

Witnesses in New York describe how the World Trade Centre is ablaze after two planes crashed into the twin towers. James Winter, 30, a British worker living in an apartment close to the centre, said he had been woken by a huge bang. "I was in bed and there was a huge explosion. The whole building rattled and shook. I ran to the window and there was smoke billowing from the south side of one of the towers."



Terror group denies attack

A Palestinian terror group has rejected claims of responsibility for the two plane crashes at the World Trade Centre. Abu Dhabi television earlier reported it had received a call from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine claiming responsibility for the attack. President George W Bush announced the FBI, CIA and national security chiefs are throwing all their resources at hunting down those responsible. Experts say there are a number of suspects.



Britain offers US assistance

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says Britain will offer the United States every possible help to bring to justice the perpetrators of the attacks. In a statement, he said: "The world will be watching these pictures from the US with absolute horror. There can be no justification for these appalling acts of terrorism."Prime Minister Tony Blair has described the attacks as "the most terrible shocking event". He said the attacks were acts of "fanatics who are utterly indifferent to the sanctity of life".



President Bush told of disaster

US President George W Bush was reading to children in a Florida classroom when he was told the news of the New York Twin Towers attack. He said: "We have had a national tragedy. Two aeroplanes have crashed into the World Trade Centre in an apparent terrorist attack on our country."He promised a "full scale investigation to hunt down and find those folks who committed this act. Terrorism against our nation will not stand."



US shuts all airports

World travel has been thrown into chaos as America is rocked by a series of terrorist attacks. Many US-bound flights had already left the UK when American officials decided to close all US airports. "We are trying to find out just where our in-flight America-bound travellers will be able to land," says a spokeswoman at Manchester airport.
