DESCRIPTION

This Visual Basic .NET sample Windows application demonstrates how to create a dynamic report based on user input. This application uses blank formula fields to specify which database fields appear on the report and to specifiy which field to group on.

INSTALLATION

1. Extract this file to the default installation folder C:\Crystal\crnet\. This will create the application folder C:\Crystal\crnet\vbnet_win_dynamic_report_formula\.

2. Open the Visual Studio .NET IDE and from the File menu, select 'Open'| 'Project' and browse to where you extracted the sample and select 
'FormulasAndDynamicReportCreation.sln'.  Click on the 'Open' button to load the project.

3. From the Build menu, select 'Build Solution' to compile the application.

4. From the Debug menu, select "Start Without Debugging" to run the application.

A dialog box now appears asking you to select two database fields and a group field for the report.  After clicking the 'Run Report' button  the report appears.

Additional Information


The report in the sample uses the Xtreme Sample Database ODBC DSN. Xtreme Sample Database is created by default when installing Crystal Reports 8.5 and lower or Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002. 

If the Xtreme Sample Database DSN has not been installed please refer to the VBNet Windows Sample Descriptions document.
