    Thumbs up

writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
writing haskell makes your life easier:
    reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

20 Things why you can feel proud about being American

Ohhh... Remember I can't be against America because Australia is now USA's official 51st State Don't ask me, ask Jethro:

    Excerpted from: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Lobby/1867/

    1) The gun laws - they seem to actually think that these laws are a GOOD thing. You don't need much intelligence to see why there are so many gun related murders. Americans are under the impression that they are in the 'land of the free'. The word gullible springs to mind. Its all propaganda guys.
    2) They call the Superbowl the world championship, but there are only American teams involved. Hello?
    3) "You're welcome!"
    4) "Missing you already!"
    5) Militant beligerance. They can be way too quick to jump in and test their weapons out on people who 'don't matter'.
    6) Ignorance of what the rest of the world is like.
    7) My Dad met an American who thought England was a state of America off the coast of New York. Enough said.
    8) Infomercials
    9) Capital punishment
    10) Americans have little or no sense of irony. If you say to them 'America is the land of the free', they will reply 'Yeah man! It rocks!'
    11) No national health service.
    12) Gulf war propaganda. (The British government is just as bad).
    13) Americans don't realise there is a difference between England and Britain.
    14) They call the US "God's own country". I hardly think God would want to live there, actually.
    15) Rednecks.
    16) They spell 'colour' and 'Maths' wrongly. In fact you probably do that in Canada too. Stupid Canadians [MRM: Canadians use British spelling, which is just one of the reasons you won't find any "color" tags on this page" ]
    17) Why do the sit-coms always have to have a moral message at the end?
    18) Any country that makes Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman deserves to be critisised.
    19) Country music.
    20) The F117 Stealth Bomber doesn't even work in the rain. HAHAHAHAHA.

    Realise is spelled Realize.
    And there's a difference?

By logic, English is the language of England. Therefore, any evolutionary changes that occur in the language are only valid inside England I don't mind people calling it US English, because that shows that it was English, and is close enough not to make too much difference.
Different with dialects, though, because they're English (or maybe British which is fair enough since they'd come into contact with England on a daily basis )...and can do what they want

And yes, this is a bit of a sore point with me (I've posted about this before!)
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

I think you'll find there are many "color" tags, and no "colour" tags...

I think he was talking about the other site. I didn't check that page though.... I don't see how they would get the browser to recognise 'colour' since they're all aimed at Americans. Weird really, since if I remember right the guy who developed HTML was British.

He didn't get the browsers to recognize colour... he didn't use colored text, so there was no need for the 'color' tag..... although he does use the bgcolor property of the body tag..

    Sorry, Matthew.

When I was Escaflowne, I saw you post "Hello, how were you..." in 5 or 6 different languages. Therefore:

    Tu comprehende français!
Oui, monsieur Gates! Tu comprehende le français! Un americain?
