biotech stuff 60 - 80M
in the kneset channel some biotech company guys requested 60-80M$ or NIS, I think it was $, to make new plants or something.
seriously ?!
I think that could be done with 300k NIS tops in the case they don't already have labs or employees. for 60-80M of public or, whatever the word is, money, I just hope, the new plant will give the eater super powers, taste good and be considered a full corse meal.

I don't know the NIS-dollars conversion rate, but 300k$ wouldn't buy you much when it comes to biotech. That wouldn't cover staff costs for about a year for even a small biotech firm, which isn't enough time to get out one solid generation of any plant.

Re: biotech stuff 60 - 80M
in the case the employees would get 5 - 51 % of generated net profit as an insentive
and asuming the employees are choosed according to an objective competision
2 employees with a little above minimum wage + travel expenses = 2 ( employess) * ( 3500 + 250 ) * 12 (months) * 10 (years) = 900000 NIS
rented faccility : about 760000 NIS
equipment ( rented when possible ) = 30000 NIS
start of marketing product : 5000 tops
1,695000 NIS much less than 60M$

I wouldn't eat any plants engineered by someone on minimum wage

Two minimum wage employees? Which one is the manager, or do they draw straws each day?
That's a pretty bizarre calculation, but even by your own calculation, the cost would be more than 5 times what you initially stated.

true that, but 60M$ seems, to me, wahehey too much.

Not for a biotech startup... there's a lot of costs involved... especially in equipment... you just don't pop off down to your local electronics store and pick up electron microscopes or gas spectromitors... there's a couple $Mil right there. TWO employees? At a minimum you're going to have 5 scientists, CEO, President, some kind of VP, a couple of secretaries, and a janitor. The janitor you can get at minimum wage, the secretaries are going to need a little more, the executives will command a high salary, and the scientists aren't going to be working for peanuts... Brazilian nuts maybe, but certainly not peanuts. Right there you've burned through probably close to $10M in the first year alone... and that may not even cover operational costs (utilities, rent, etc) ... rent... odds are you're going to need a specialized building with security (security! I forgot about the small army of rent-a-cops needed, 3-per shift, 3 shifts, that's 9, plus they needs days off, so rotating... 12-15) which is going to be another few million... So even at a conservative $5M for construction, we now have burned $15M .... and we haven't even started doing anything yet.

Oddly, you can go to e-bay. One of our geneticists was able to pick up some excellent equipment that way. So, somebody out there was sitting around thinking, "I have this gene sequencer here to get rid of. What to do....what to do...."

I'm sorry did I say 1,695000 , I meant 100,000 :
for subsidised experiments at external places and if an inventor solves at his free time whatever they look for he sells it to them for money + % of profits at which point the profits should cover expences.

Some how I'm not all that surprised... if a town can sell itself on ebay... why not a gene sequencer ... in fact there's two right now up for grabs... only one accepts returns though... makes you curious...

I beg to differ... a Shogun Megazord runs at least $70M
