I love the forum search function and you took it away?!?! It's very useful, as rather than post the same questions over and over, people can browse through previous posts and get the answer.

Someone said it was very demanding on the server, but if you cut out the message preview bit and allow it to only return 10 or so threads a page, it shouldn't be so bad...

Also it returns several posts per thread. If it only returned 1 post/thread, it would make life easier for the server.

Please please please bring it back, thank you very much.

It might make it easier... or it might not. I'm sure it will be back online as soon as it's ready anyway.

    Well ...

It's been almost a week or more since the search has been disabled. What's up, John?

The problem is that the server's getting overloaded, and the search is the main culprit. So, in order to keep the forums functioning, the search needs to be disabled.

We are working on the problem, but unfortunately I do not have much free time at the moment. We will try to get it working again ASAP.

meanwhile, the masses are suffering. What is the possibility of getting search enabled just for me? ha ha, no take all the time you need to get it working right (just not too much time please, as i am dependent on it)!

I'm a newbie to VB and this is, by far, the best learning tool I've found. The search was key to finding the best and varied ways of doing almost anything in VB. I check about 5 times a day to see if it is up yet...

Good luck and thanks for a great site!!!

You can still search the tips if that helps. But still the overall search is busted

Just another vote here to get the Search up and running ASAP. It is a great reference tool and has helped me much in the past.

    and another one :

Parksie, I have to restart IE around 6 times a day 'cause I keep getting "the server is too busy - please try later" messages - it's been worse / this started after the search was disabled ???!?!?

I never saw this message before, and find it the forums slower than they ever were over the past 2-3 weeks !!!

Please rate this post if it was useful for you!
Please try to search before creating a new post,
Please format code using [ code ][ /code ], and
Post sample code, error details & problem details

It seems more limited now -- before they disabled search the server was too overloaded even to give a "server too busy" message!
