I think it's because there are so many people on the boards at the moment, 34 members and 29 guests, and they're all posting like mad. I read this, went to check how many people were on and when I got back to the chit chat forum there were already 2 replies to this and more on the post race. The poor little server can't cope with all that work and it needs a rest every now and again.
If it wasn't for this sentence I wouldn't have a signature at all.

I understand completely..........with a little patience it's not really a problem.....I love this place and can put up with having to do a few refreshes!
