Implementation of HL7 in Us Healthcare portal

Hi friends I am working on US Health care Web Portal. Our requirement got changed. I have been told to implement HL7 Standards in My health care portal project. So some body Please provide me guidance fro the same.

HL7 is a fairly specialized topic. I would expect few here to even be aware of it unless they work in Health Care.

Google is your friend when it comes to finding discussions on and descriptions of HL7, as well as more detailed specification documents. There were a number of Web sites on the subject the last time I looked, some from product vendors and some from the community.

Aside from a budding trend to replace their message format by XML I didn't notice much new the last time I looked. I can't imagine where a Web Portal fits in, except perhaps that the application might use HL7 protocols and formats to access back-end information.
