Question URL link in sms text message

    Hi Everyone,

I have a program that will send a text message to a cell phone. But when I send a URL it does not show up right. Is there a special format I need to use? The link contains an IP address and port to run in their windows media player. I wish they could click it and it would launch the WMP on their phone. But getting the url to show correctly would help for now.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

I have a feeling this question might be better asked in the Windows Mobile Development Forum. I am sure PeteVick might know the answer to this.

From what I know (Working with phones) each handset can accept different encodings. The issue is though that while most phones are set to automatic some are set to only accept one or the other.

This is further complicated by the fact that the sim that they use (If it is GSM based) may change the preference to suit the network. A lot of older sims can only use GSM alphabet.

Your best bet is to find out which is the most used in the country you are in and then go with that one.
