MBR CORRUPT No one can fix

I'm getting sick of bringing this up on every forum i visit but i seriously need this fixed and no one knows how to this is the last forum im going to try::

Does any one know how to fix a corrupt MBR issues it's causing::
I have a COMPAQ Presario v2000

Can't watch Youtube Videos mad of fact any videos at all computer frezzes up wen i do

wen my computer freZZes up after a good 30 minutes it powers off it self and takes a good 30 secs to power back on


Just basically can't do nuffin my computer will end up powering off eventually
any programs you know can fix it that maybe someone has coded plz and thanks in advance

Don't you have some kind of recovery cd/dvd?
If not try formatting hd and then installing fresh os.
If that doesn't help get yourself a new hd and install fresh os.

Windows xp home edition just installed that i also have a windows xp pro so it doesnt matter. i reforatted and installed new OS 6 times or more now cause i keep trying new things recovery disk sucks its no use wen u reinstall an OS.

The MBR is the section of the drive which contains the boot loader for the operating system. If the MBR is corrupt, the operating system will not even boot.

Your problems sound more like either:
— faulty memory modules, or
— a faulty hard drive causing data corruption.

You can check for faulty memory using a tool like memtest86+, which comes in a bootable CD form.

If memtest86+ cannot find any memory problems then I would follow Rhino's advice and get a new hard drive.

Yea, if it's really the MBR, you wouldn't be getting as far as Windows.

It could be a bad hard drive though and it may not be an immediate problem. Off a cold-boot, it'll work fine for a while. Once the heat from a warped bearing starts getting bad and metal starts expanding and the platters start wobbling out of specified limits, then next thing you know, it's a failure to read anything.

It sounds like you got other problems though because a faulty hard drive wouldn't prevent a computer from powering up for 30 minutes. I'd suspect your RAM is bad, or your CPU isn't getting enough cooling (or is bad) or your motherboard's power regulators are bad, or your power supply is going bad giving weak or fluctuating power.

Examine your heat sink on the CPU and make sure it's still firmly mounted in place. Check for dead fans that aren't spinning. Examine the capacitors on your motherboard and see if any are puffed out or leaking. Make sure all your other heat sinks are also mounted firmly in place. If you pulled off or replaced any heat sinks recently, did you use thermal compound? If you did, did you use too much? Run MemTest86+ on your RAM for a few hours and see if there are any RAM issues.
