    Microsoft System Center ads... again!

The Microsoft System Center Ads are rendering with volume-on again, making me have to scramble to click on the "sound off" every time I load a page. Very annoying behavior. I thought that this had been fixed the last time.

Also, their music is half stolen from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's that bit when the gorillas learn to stand upright that they stole. I feel that this product does not really compare with HAL.

Pfft... I 'd be grateful for those adds.... All I ever get these days are SitePAl, with some chick telling me to type something into the text box and she'll speak it.... some day when I've the time, I plan to have fun with that....

    Me too.
The lady telling you to type something into the textbox, so that she can say it for you.

    AHHHHARRRRGGG!!!

Don't blow my speakers out lady!
Some of my programs require a high gain already,
and this makes it even worse when she yells at me.

    Gotta fix that.

If you get a version of this that is taking (sound on by default), capture the soruce and email it to me. I'm not getting the ad right now...

    Thanks,

    Brad!

Actually, for me, it's happening when I accidentally mouse over it... usually on my way up to the close button or the minimize button.... or if my mouse happens to be over it when I scroll to the bottom of a thread.

Re: Microsoft System Center ads... again!

I've already talked many, many times with our sales people about ads that have sound. If the sound is a result of an action (mousing over is an action), then I'm likely not to be able to do anything about it. If the sound happens automatically when you simply load the site, then that we can generally get changed.

I know that I pushed really hard about the talking from the SitePal ad and finally was told that since a mouse over action was required, the sound wasn't 'automatic'. To me it is a bit like splitting hairs, but then I was overridden.

I already have (not at work of course)

There is no filter for the string of text you type in for her to speak. *evil grin*

Last time we had the SP ad we were able to get the sound set to muted by default.

There is a mute button on the top right of the ad guys.

Here it is but I had already muted the ad a few days/weeks ago but it should be what you need.

Easy solution is to Mute her so in the future you dont get her speaking and everyone at your office will hear you are goldbricking lol.

I've reported it to our ad people. Let's see what they do.

    THanks,

Okay, thanks guys. This seems to be a UK only issue. We are on it.

Does not happen in Aus either.
    Slower than a crippled Vista
More buggy than a fresh XP install
Look! Down the road, some 50 miles behind the drunken snail.
    It's Ubuntu!
