I have been getting that "Question Market" ad popup yesterday and today. It popsup over the page and here is the source attached.
I did the usual that we do on CG to get rid of it, click on the "Yes" button and then close out the next popup page so it writes the cookie that the survey has been viewed/filled out.

99% of the time these come from a 3rd party ad server and not from us. That makes it a bit harder to stomp these out.

That doesn't work for me either because my cookies get wiped after every session, I'm a bit paranoid (something to do with Zionist mercenaries, don't ask).
Anyways this problem needs resolving, not a workaround.
The problem is that its resulting for one ad sponsor and its hard to figure out which. This is more of an issue for the ad department and Im not sure if the Admins can do anything more then refer the issue to the appropriate people.
Until then you can either ignore it or perform the workaround for now. Why not just leave the vbf cookies on yoiur system instead of clearing them all?

It's doing it again... I haven't looked in th footer, but I'm getting the popup survey again....I've clicked it.... 4 or 5 times... at least - and in the last week alone - in an effort to set the dang blasted cookie.... no joy....
If you click on the Yes button or whatever it is now that will take you to fil out the survey then it should be writting a cookie telling the ad not to display it again as you have filled it out already. Now if you are on a different domain (www vs non-www for this site) then you will get it again as your cookie will not apply. Also if you delete your cookies then it will popup again too.

Riiiight... I know all that.... but if I don't change domain (I use the www one) ... and I haven't cleaned out my cookies (I can't actually remember the last time I did).... then ????
Is it possible THEY are changing domains, serving the ad up from different locations, requiring a new cookie each time?
Could be as this is an old issue so I would make my best guess that maybe they changed their ad, specifications (like different ad locations - footer, header, sidebar etc) or who knows what. But if you are getting it multiple times even after submitting then try clearing out all your cookies and then when it pops again submit and hopefully it will stay dismissed.

We (Jupitermedia/VBForums) are not serving these ads. Rather I believe that they are coming second-hand from the ad servers that the ads are coming from. Some advertisers embed these into their ad, or send them from their ad servers. As such, they could be coming from different domains -- that are not ours. I complain about these too, but there is not a lot we can do since we don't control the ad servers, but rather just point to them.
As has been stated, most will write a cookie so you only get them once.... per place.

OK, I reallly don't want to rub salt into this wound, but it's odd enough I had to share. I got the survey again (I clicked it this time, we'll see if the cookie holds), but the weird part is that 1) It was neither the top ad or the bottom (IBM and APC respectively) 2) It popped up when I hit back after visiting my CP.... ??? go figure...
