Two questions for our resident smart ass

1. What's the spend on the modem again....now l know you just like to mention that.

2. How does dreamcast compare to Front Page. Am thinking of getting beyond MS product and am looking for something to tide me over till vb7 finally makes it's appearance, got to love the xml support they have put into that thing.

1.5 megabit per second... I get an average of 125 - 150 k/s


and for the 2nd question... it really depends on what you like... front page is cheaper, and more useful.. but if you like games, dreamcast is awesome...

if you do get dreamcast get "House of the dead 2" and a few of those little gun controllers.... the game is horrible without gun controllers(it takes too long for the cursor to move accross the screen if you use a normal controller, and you usually die before beating the first level)

I played House of the Dead on an arcade machine a while back - great game...lovely graphics .

House of the Dead is okay, but a bit crude. Very little finesse, it's just shooting as fast as you can. I prefer Time Crisis myself. Dennis, I'm with ya on the lightgun point.

Not sure Harry, but apparently it's an option too replace Frontpage...our ISP doesn't support PHP or XML et al. So need something a little better than MSs product.

Have a copy of the thing winging it's way to the office, just thought l would get some opinions on it.

I haven't used it much... a lot of people prefer dream weaver.. but I like FP...

I've used Frontpage 2000, and it was okay. Seemed pretty good overall, but nothing spectacular. I have heard people say good things abot it so it can't be that bad. One part of it I do appreciate is that it doesn't reformat your HTML code if you edit it yourself, which I am usually doing. Sounds like you know all this though since you're using it already

A while ago (like maybe a year ago) Dreamweaver was the best product around by most accounts, but I'm not sure if that's still true now. From what I've heard it's a bit more oriented towards making pages that look pretty, but I'm not sure how it compares nowadays.

Incidentally, what do you do with XML? It was part of a module on web-based computing I took on my degree course last semester, and I'm wondering how it's implemented. Do you use XHTML and XSL? Where does the programming come in, is it used to read the DTD? Sorry to bug you with a load of questions, I was just wondering

Currently using xml to format documents from a unix system to a laser printer, and also to provide export to Excel. XML is used to discribe the data types to the various applications for importing and exporting. Am currently trying to convince our ISP to get some XML support going, so that we can re-write more user friendly web pages in it.

In Oz xml is slowly catching on, but still have problems with B2B if one of the companies don't support it.

With vb7 implementation of xml support will make things alot easier...wont need multiple application packages to get things done.
