Hi all,
Sorry for the long post....
I am writing an application suite that uses three ActiveX exe's (all on NT WS or W2K WS) and remote clients (98,NT ,2K).
The three ActiveX exe communicate like App2 receives events from App1, App3 receives events from App2. App2 communicates through serial port to field devices.
The client (App4) receives events from App3 and calls functions in App1. The client cannot see App2.
(Sort of like the coffee example).
On the development machine (NT4 sp6,Vb Ent.,Sp3), lanuching the client will start all three apps. App1 and App2 are correctly connected. App3 is not connected to App2. If I start App3 manually, App1 and App2 load, then start client and I can send and recieve events.
I installed the client on a remote W2k machine. When i start the client , all three apps start on the dev PC. Problem is that I get a "Component is busy" whenever I click anywhere on the client. What is this message telling me?
A second problem that I noticed today is that the remote client always starts all three apps even though they are already running on the dev pc. If I start 16 clients on the dev pc, the first one loads the other apps and the other 15 connect to that instance. Why does the remote client start his own set of apps (if I start multiple remotes , only one instance of each app loads)?
