Can yahoo and hotmail interact with smtp servers?
hi folks, i've done a simple application wich uses local smtp server and interact with it to send e-mails. But i have troubles sending mails to yahoo and hotmail. With Gmail accounts it seems to work fine. Anybody does know why? do i have to use another protocol instead of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol?. Any help will be really greateful. Regards!.

Don't know about Yahoo, but Hotmail doesn't support SMTP.
edit: I assume you mean retrieving mail from Yahoo and Hotmail. Sending mail to those providers is just like sending any other e-mail.

Thanks for your answer. I meant sending mails to that providers. With yahoo now it's working, but hotmail appears not to receive mails i sent. I don't know why, but i've tested it and always got same results. Does anybody have a clue? Thanks!

Oh, that's odd.
Are you sure that they're not going in to Hotmail's Junk folder? Hotmail tends to junk e-mails that don't contain enough headers; maybe you need to add some more of those.
