That would require a code hack which we tend to avoid as it just means more work for the admins when the forum software needs to be upgraded.
If you use Firefox you can get the Reload Every extension which adds an auto-reload option to each tab.

I started using Firefox (after you suggested it...) and I like it however I could not get the Reload Every extension option....

It wouldnt be feasible to write a Hack for the forum software for that.
If youre using IE 7 there are AddOns already for refreshing a page on a set interval.

Once you've installed it, like this:
The Reload Every extension adds an option to the context menu ( the menu you obtain by right clicking on the web page you're currently viewing) to reload the web page you are viewing every so many seconds or minutes. You can also access reload every by using the dropdown menu next to the reload button on the toolbar.

used firefox browser and try downloading the firefox adds-on RELOADEVERY on mozilla website, by using this adds-on you can set the time reload of your page.
