    Nesting - Optimize bars

    Hi,

Does anyone know any code that would allow me to optimize bar lengths?

I have bar lengths that are 6m long and I have to cut 20 allsorted lengths from the 6m lengths.

What code would you write to perform this task?

Ideally I would set up a excel spread sheet to perform these tasks.

    Thanks

    Col

    Re: Nesting - Optimize bars

??? do u mean figure out the best way to split up the 6m bars so u can get the most use out of them?

    so lyoure saying...example:
U have 5 metal bars.. 6m long each
    and you need to cut
    1m * 3
    4m * 2
    3m * 7
    etc.. etc

so u want to figure out whats the best usage of the 6m bars? (if im reading this right?)

    Hi,

Yes thats it exactly. The sizes would be more complicated as in

    3 @ 343mm
    5 @ 1567mm

    and so on

    Any ideas?

Also their would need to be away of putting wastage. Which would be about 4mm per cut

    Cheers
