California or Hawaii
I'm from South Africa, worked the last year in China (Beijing), a while at Microsoft Asia Research, and would like to move to either California or Hawaii with my fiance (US Citizen) in the next year or so.
Can anyone give me some advice about what's "Hot" over there, and so on so I can start adjusting my skills accordingly?

C# and second VB.NET.
The way to find out is to search for job listings on the job websites like dice.com and monster.com. Then you can see which location has more opportunities too.

Also Microsoft (if you are not an MS hater) have always a lot of job openings which you can find them through their web page. Not sure how many of thos jobs are in Ca though.
