Hard Drive - Partition Fixing/Deleting
Hello,
I'm going to format soon just because everyone once in a while I like a clean system. I have no problem there. I backed up all my data, etc. The only thing is, I want to delete my Linux partition, so I can totally start from scratch and have no other partitions. Because right now, if I format the Windows partition and install Windows, there'll still be the Linux partition. (Is there an option in the Windows setup that can delete the Linux partitions?) And I don't want it there yet. For some reason, when I open up Norton PartitionMagic 8.0, it says there is an error on my hard drive (says it can't read the partition letter [i.e. C:\]), and then it closes. So I can't do anything there. I had previously used it to delete a Linux partition, but obviously I can't now. It said to run the BIOS version of PartitionMagic (the "rescue disks") but that also produced an error, leaving me stranded and able to do nothing. So now I'm in search of a program that can delete the Linux partition and fix the error.
Does anyone know of such a program? I've searched several websites that have an array of programs (download.com, snapfiles.com, etc) but have had no luck.
Thanks in advance,
alacritous

Re: Hard Drive - Partition Fixing/Deleting
You can change partitions with the Windows setup (for 2000 and XP at least).

- Right click on My Computer and slect Computer Management
- Click on Storage->Disk Management
- You'll be able to see the Linux partition as an unidentified, unmounted partition on the disk.
- Right click on the partition and select delete. Obviously, this cannot be undone

You can also delete the partition from Windows Setup too.

Hmm... I'm surprised. I never knew about the Disk Management program in Windows. But ya, that did the trick. It even fixed the error that was stopping Partition Magic from opening. Then I resized it.
Time for Windows and OpenSUSE
Thanks,
