Does anyone think that a program that stores course information, golf scores, player names, handicaps etc. would be a good idea?
please tell me, or give me another idea

Depends on how many golfer's you know that would be interested. If you made it a light-weight application that calculates most of the totals for them, I would say yes. It always seems to depend on who your clientel will be and if they will need/want your program.

I think that would be a great idea. I have been working on a program like that for myself. Right now I am adding the capability to have a pic of each hole (real or from scorecard). The problem is loading all the course information into the DB. Very time consuming.

I had a similar idea, and since I'm too lazy to ever try to implement it - here's the scoop. I was figuring on a palm pilot/windows ce app that would have a listing of all registered courses and the course info(holes, length, handicap). With each course, an image of each hole could also be downloaded. The golfer would be able to keep track of his scores for courses that are registered. You could even track how many shots for a given hole you've taken in the past. It would also calculate handicaps by course as well.
Golf courses that register to be part of the system would be able to upload any changes to their course to a centralized server as well. This would allow for golfer to download updates right from the internet. You could even get as complicated as pin placement.
Of course, this could go on and on...
So, go ahead - take the idea and make yourself a million
