I'm using RJ45 cables, is it possible to connect them without a hub?

Yes by using a cross-over cable you can connect the two together. I assume you have network cards in each? Then you would have to setup the network settings on both computer...the one that doesn't have direct net access you should assign an ip that is on the same submask as the other one. Then make sure that you have TCP/IP, IPX, and NETBUI installed in the network settings...allow printer/file acess...logon as MicrosoftNetworks, and assign a name/workgroup to each....restart the computers and log on as a user of the Microsoft Networks...That should do it. Check the "Network N." to see if your computers are showing up.
These instructions may be a bit too brief if you are not very familiar with networking...iff you have any troubles just send me an e-mail.
Also you may want to have a look arounf microsoft's site to see if they actually offer instructions.
