How can software be hardware?
Lately when i install software (XP Pro), when i restart my pc it says at the system tray "Found New Hardware", and it might say for example "Found New Hardware StyleXP".
This never used to happen, so how can installing software trigger windows to think its hardware?

Re: How can software be hardware?
no, i used that as an example, when i installed StyleXP about 2 month ago, i never had the problem, but when i installed it, restart the pc the "Found New Hardware" pops up. It also did it when i installed Adobe Acrobat 5 and Partition Magic. It never used to do this, but now its like its trying to install hardware, which is found from recently installed software, which it shouldnt!

Re: How can software be hardware?
So basically whenever you install software after a reboot it thinks hardware was installed. Hmm, must be all that Delphi code
thats on your system Just kidding.
Have you tried to go through the wizard and see if you can satisfy it? Maybe you installed hardware a while ago but its driver or something
got messed up and now it doesnt recognise it as installed?

Re: How can software be hardware?
Not sure what else you could try but search on MS for this type of error? Oh, or if its a big irritating issue you could always re-format.

Re: How can software be hardware?
That will always solve the problem but its up to you if it buggs you that much or its been a while since your last re-format.

Re: How can software be hardware?
Here is a good example of what it does, i installed a Adaware again last night and whe in restart, in that baloon window in the corner it shows:
"Found New Hardware
Adaware antispy services"
But there was nothing which would of normally prompted the installation of it!

Re: How can software be hardware?
Its got to be something mixed up in Windows that is doing this. If its a big irritating problem then you could try a Windows Repair
using the Windows CD.
