Help! Need circuit design advice!
So I finally bought a USB thumb drive today, and it's one of those ones where you can see the circuit inside. It didn't look too complicated, so I got to thinking that perhaps I could create my own USB thumb drive!
I used Google, but could only find this site: http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive...ers_guide.html. On it, a reply to a post says:
I'm working on a project that involves USB, and it is relatively simple to actually make your own USB-storage device from components. Chip manufacturers (I selected TI) have a lot of chips out there that are solder-and-play style USB components. You take their chip, plug USB into one side, and an IDE-compatable (amongst other bus types) device into the other side (Compact-flash is IDE compatable, as are hard disks obviously) and they just work, it shows up as a USB mass-storage device (which you can boot from). Hooray. -Jesse
I'm wondering if somebody can help me figure out what kind of USB chips the guy is referring to! Even better would be a link to the schematics that somebody on the net has, no doubt, put together!
Any help is appreciated!

If your a student then you can get several Data books from either TI or Motorolla. You may want to either ask the poster
or check out the TI or Motorolla websites.
I got my sets free when I was finishing my BSEE degree and I only needed to fill out one form and fax it in.

as cheap as things are nowadays...I've decided it's cheaper to just buy stuff already made...I have a degree in electronics but I don't use it because I can just goto walmart and get stuff I want that's cheaper than making.
