Windows 2003 Server problem
At my job, we have Windows 2000 Server and my boss wants to merge to 2003. Our technician brought us a 2003 server. I could switch for both server by change network cable and typing ipconfig /renew in DOS. When I left yesterday, I shutdown the 2003 Server and today, my computer can't find the server. I tried to ping it and it says "Unknown host name". What could be the problem? I can't call my technician cause he's not working on week-end!

Re: Windows 2003 Server problem
My guess is that there is a problem with the DNS or NETBIOS name resolution. Was the original server acting as the master browser or DNS server and can you ping the server by IP address?

Re: Windows 2003 Server problem
That, or the new server has assumed an IP address which has already been taken.
You can check the IP addresses of your servers by typing IPCONFIG at the command prompt.

Re: Windows 2003 Server problem
Today, it was working, so I think the problem is that I opened my computer before the server!
