John or James,
Why is GURU disabled? Does that mean that I can NEVER guru-ize? What's so wrong with POST-races? I really think the more you post the better, because more will be answered and this site will be more popular.
Why is this happening, and is there still a way to GURU-ize?

Post races aren't so bad,
but when the chit chat forum still counted, a few people had some post races to see who could get guru faster.......
these were completely uselss posts... so thats why john doesn't autopromotoe guru anymore

Oh, dennis.
OK, but why don't they do like they do now? Why can't they just disable CHITCHAT count rather then GURU?
Oh, and does the posts before that are posted in chit chat forms still count?
I mean, does the ones posted before this still count in "posts"?

Escaflowne, it is actually better this way. Anyone can post a lot of posts and become Guru, but what have they really done? So it is better if the Administrator has control over this.
Chit chat posts that counted before made post counts decrease.
A Guru is dedicated to the site, helps people out, provides code, etc. etc. Really, John's just making this site better for everyone, and this, Feedback, is what makes it better.
Never say never. If you set a goal and try and reach for it, I am sure you can do it.
Follow your dreams...you can reach your goals, I'm living proof. BEEF CAKE! BEEF CAKE!!!

I find it really weird that loads of people said they didn't really care about post counts, and then go off into this forum and complain when other people tried to increase their post count.
Do I sense hypocrisy, or just hippos' crises?

Mathew that is a really cool feature.
Ok three possibilities.
1. An undocmented feature of the site.
2. An opportunity to enhance the performance of the site.
3. John got distracted by Mrs Le Pont when he was fixing the count stuff.

That was almost a thought out and helpful post. You are slipping down to the level of the gurus. Now l want you to think about what you are doing young man and improve on your performance.
All
Who cares....John/James are probably working on site usability therefore don't bug them with this meaningless drivel about post counts.
