SQL Security?

I am looking to move some of our databases out of access into SQL. Does SQL security allow users to view all records but only update or delete the records they put in? I do this now in code but thought SQL might do it for me.

You set up the permissions in SQL server. You can grant read, write, update, delete and execute permissions on almost any object to any user (or group of users).
