[Resolved] Can't Get Wireless Network to Work

I went out today and purchased a DI-524 Wireless Router and a two DWL-G510 Wireless PCI adapters to share my Comcast cable connection between my two computers.

I followed the instructions, and I have my cable modem connected the router (plugged into the WAN) port, and I have one of the wireless cards in my PC.

Everything's powered up, and I installed the drivers for the card. But I can't to any website or connect to any online services.

The front of the router has several LEDs: Power, Status, WAN, WLAN, 1, 2, 3, 4.

The only ones that are lit up are Power and WLAN.

Is there anybody that can help coach me through getting this to work?

I've already been there and followed their step by step guide. Still isn't working.

try using a lan cable to see if you can surf the web,
can you open up the configuration screen on the router (first wired, and then wireless?)
is DHCP turned on on the router and the laptop?

are you using XP? if so, try to run their networking wizard

ps - I suggest that you use WEP by creating a password on the router, and then copying it to the laptop so that unwanted guests can't access you network.

It could be a bad router, I have returned 2 of the exact same DLink Routers. The clue was that the "status" led was not lit up. These 2 bad routers were purchased back to back. What are the odds on that? Seems DLink has a problem on their hands and are failing to acknowlege. The best part was when Best Buy told me after the second returned router that it was my last return...no more even if the product is bad...I dont do Best Buy anymore.

Interesting. As soon as I can, I'm going to go over to a friends house and try to see if he can get it to work for his computers. If we both can't get it to work, I'm probably going to bring it back.

Finally, after much frustration and help from friends, I returned the D-Link and got a Linksys router instead, and it's working perfectly so far. I did some search on the D-Link router that I returned, and bounds of negative reviews on it.

I probably should have searched around and learned about the product before buying it.

Yeah, a few times. But everything's good now with the Linksys.
