HTML Templates
Just curious, I have done searches and have found still no definative answer, what is an HTML template? anyone got good links on tutorials? is a template similar to like a leaderhead that you cannot alter once its on your site?
thanks any help is much appreciated

Depends, really. Most WYSIWIG HTML editors like Dreamweaver support templates, where you just put some content into your design and be done with it. When you later change the template, all the pages based on it change too.
Templates can also be skeleton pages where a server-side script fills in content.

hey thanks, but is it difficult to create web templates from scratch? i mean i see all sorts of cool web templates and they seem difficult to be able to draw and code. are they? what sort of editor can i use to create a template? do i have to know perl or is that sort of template something else?

Depends on the type of template. You can use Notepad to create a template-based server-side scripted content management system.
