Does anyone have any good knowledge or advice on using VB to connect to an AS400?? Using ODBC or a DPC(a module of declarations)? I am starting from scratch on a project that involves connecting to the AS 400 and I am searching for valuable tips on the best direction for this piece. Any tips are much appreciated!!??

Hi,
I'm assuming your going to be using DB2 on AS400 (not that it matters really). The best way to go is to use ADO as the connection method. IBM should have included some default drivers for you to use, but if not check out the drivers by intersolv. It's best to connect using the provider but failing that go the ODBC route.

Connecting to AS400
Hi,
I have connected to our AS400 using IBM's Client Access with good results. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me at [email protected].
Bye,
Jim

Well I had good luck in connecting through ODBC. We use Rumba and I connected to the Rumba ODBC and it works nicely, and quick too. I am wondering what other kind of issues I will run into once I have say 50 - 100 people hitting it at once though. Any issues you remember having? Thanks for your relpies so far.
