    Question

I tried to do some 3D in the IM but I got problems with building meshes. Does anyone know how I can import .X files oder other 3D files I can create with some 3D programs?

I'd recommend not to use .x files since they only store the mesh itselves. Write an exporter for 3DS or something so you can easily import them into your project. (3DS exporters are done in C)

    Check out this link:

    http://francis.dupont.free.fr/coinde...ish/index.html

(Go to: tutorials, 3D, Convert 3D studio model to D3DIM)
It explains how to convert .3DS files to .X files and
how to use them in DirectX IM.

I noticed there were a few dead links not so many though,
I believe the only dead link in the 3D IM section is texture mapping.

Do you perhaps happen to know a site where you can download free .x files of human beings. My problem is that I can't draw a 3D human being...

Daan. Sorry I can't give you links right now you'll have to wait one or two days then I'll give you some great ones! (I've friend who is into 3d!) BUT: Human desings in you game will be so slow!!!! because they are much to detailed! if you've ever had a graphik accelerator which wasn't really supported or had some patially defekt rams on your bord you'll notic how bad the models in proffesional games are!!!! they're just really good textured!!!

Do you have any suggestions what to replace the human beings with then? (Or can't your friend draw some really good textured ones :-))

Did you get the .x file working?
