.x files
hi, i'm messing around with direct3d, seeing if I can learn anything. What programs do you use to model/convert to .x files? Or are there handy little functions to load other types of files? This is just a hobby of mine and I have about $0 to spend on fancy modelers, so any free options would be of great interest to me.

You can use the conv3ds.exe utility (which comes with the SDK) to convert 3ds files to .x files. Some modellers can save to .x natively, though I dont know of any that are free off the top of my head. DIrectX does NOT come with any functions to load other types of files.
