Is this book any good...
Hi
A few months ago I bought 3D Game Programming with C++ by John De Goes, but I didn't understand much of the D3D due to DD experience....Now I have created my first 2D game using C++ and DirectDraw and I want to move into Direct3D. I have a heard some bad things about the book, so I hope you can help casting some lights on it....

Sounds like people that slammed it because it wouldn't write a 3D game for them.

I have heard about something called something like "The Zen of 3D programming". If you do a search at Amazon.com, you probably will find what I'm talking about....

Well, it won't contain a function, but it should contain a full (albeit small) game. It's going to be on RPG game development with VB.

That's something that should be standing in my shelf. Maybe I should order it right away

If you're referring to my post, it's using DirectX7/8 - 7 for DirectDraw and 8 for everything else - sound, network, input. I'm thinking about going to 8 for graphics, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the time to do that. It's taking enough time as it is.

Yes I was refering to your post...
I can't belive why MS took out DDraw out of DX. It's so much fun. You can make so many cool arcade games fast and easy in DD. But I suppose I can do the same in D3D, but it takes a bit more effort to start making a game in D3D...
BTW: I'm looking forward to see that book of yours...
