I am trying to add a temporary menu in excel 97 to a spreadsheet. I want to add this just before the File Menu, where I want to add about 4 or 5 macros. Any help would be appreciated, I am not trying to add a new toolbar,
Cheers

In Excel, go to Tools - Customize
Under the "Commands" tab go all the way down to "New Menu". Drag that up to the space right before the File menu. Drop it there.
Then in "Commands" click on "Macros". Drag the smiley face up to the new menu, hover over it, and then drop it on the space that shows up under "New Menu". Then assign the macro you want to the smiley face, change the name/display style etc.
You can probably also change the "New Menu" to any text you want.
