check the root folder of your hard drive for a file called system.1st

if it exists follow this procedure

    dir /ah

    attrib system.1st -s -h -r

    go into win98 folder and

    attrib system.dat -s -h -r

    ren system.dat system.bak

    copy c:\system.1st system.dat

this should take your win98 system back to the driver installation point when you first set up windows
    - hope this helps =)

NB - system.1st is a hidden system file
