Long signatures
Here is an example of one of this kind:

Never Underestimate Radical Vision
Life is rough when you are sexually attracted to fire
I do not know the pope
I'm not a nerd...Nerds are smart.
Don't hassle me...I'm local
So, scientifically speaking...huh?
Dirty girls need lovin, too.
If you take away the people's right to steal ideas, where are they gonna come from?
I'm a white male, age 18-35, everyone listens to my ideas, no matter how stupid they are.
Stickin' together's what good waffles do

Age is a very high price to pay for maturity. (InvisibleDuncan circa last Thursday)

I'd say it should be limited to about 3-4 lines. It takes you half a day to scroll one page. Rediculous. Isn't is?

Does my sig really show up that big? Sorry, I guess I can't really tell because of my resolution.

Oh, and you can disable peoples signatures from your User CP.

That is true but I'd rather see a real name.

That means that I'd like to see your name in the signature and not the damn novel!

Nah, your sig is big... but its ok. As long as it doesn't have huge size 400 fonts, its ok by me

IROY: If you come across any very long signatures, just e-mail or PM the username and I'll check it out.
Kind Regards,
Jamie.

Nah, that's not the right way. Whoever maintains this site should've done it from the beginng: who the hell needs this novels/poetry with bunch of images?! This is thechnical forum - so let's keep it that way. What you may do is to send evryone a message: "You have 1 month to change your signature to 3-4 lines, otherwise it will be shrinked." or something like that.

In theory that's possible, but in practice its not as easy as that I'm afraid

Data is stored in the database. Fields have a size. Make it smaller - as simple as that. DB will tell you that some data will be lost, so what...

True, but I believe that vBulletin is rather more complicated than that.
Anyway there are very few people with that sort of administrative access to the server.
Another problem then, is that do we necessarily own the data, and do we have the right to chop people's signatures ?
I would agree it is a problem, but to date, its always been isolated incidents.

Roy, if you don't like someones sig, send them a PM about it, or start a thread if they refuse, as it maybe that no-one else is bothered by it.

You speak like a teenager. I absolutely hate to scroll 5 miles until I see the end of damn novel. What is it? A book report?! This a technical forum! Who the hell needs these stories?! And let's finish this conversation. I'm really getting sick of it!

Yes lets finish this conversation.
Nothing will be done. People must report long signatures to us.
Simple as that I'm afraid.

You verge on chit chat. Perhaps a few more of these kind of posts, and this thread could be moved?

Interesting, calling people Brainless, and claiming vBulletin is badly designed, why, you're competing for the User Abuser Award!
You've got my vote!

Thats right even though there is an option to shut the signatures off we should ALL conform to what IROY wants, because after all the world does revolve around him.

Then shut the ****ing things off... I have seen maybe 2 or 3 people on the forums that have their name in their signature anyway... Why not just put people with long signatures on your ignore list, then you don't need to see their signatures. If you don't like it here, then go somewhere else because not many other people complain about a good service, such as the technical help on these boards, and when the one or two out of thousands, like yourself, do complain, it's not gonna make a difference...

This is very amusing. I can't believe someone would talk like that to a moderator. Where's the respect?
