I recently purchased Borland C++ Builder 5.0 to write some programs I wanted to use for myself, but soon realised that I had to fork over $500+ for the Professional edition to write anything decent (Standard doesn't even have database controls). So, I had to find my old VB4 CD and see what I can do by "relearning" Visual Basic because I only know C++. So now I'm stuck having to relearn VB with an out of date version (I don't wanna spend another $100) and a BCB CD gathering dust and getting outdated. Anyway, just wanted to vent that and see what you guys think about the other Windows development programs like Delphi and C++ Builder.

Red face For Windows we use vb5 & Delphi & C++

Personally l hate Borland's interfaces but some of the Delphi guys swear by them or at them or something...

C++ is great for the low level stuff, personally l do the mid tier stuff so haven't touched C++ gave it away with C years ago. VB is great for writing business rules etc.

No l aint getting in to that old bug bear of my langauge is better than your langauge...they each have strengths and weaknesses. After all Universe wipes the floor with most of them for standard business apps if ya don't need windows.
