modem volume problem
I want to turn off the modem speaker volume on my comp, but when I go to my modem options through the Control Panel, and select the modem properties, and select 'off' under 'speaker volume', it doesn't work. I sign on to AOL and the modem is still buggin the crap outta me. What can I do to turn it down or off?

The options shown in the control panel applet for the modem are purely dependent on the brand of modem (it's capabilities) and the supporting software installed.
For example, I have a Lucent Win Modem (read:cheap) on this box. The volume control is via a slider. It works to control modem speaker voulme. So, there is no one way to fix your particular problem.
Try downloading the most recent drivers and control software for your modem. One of the PC's at work has a ball of cotton, like an eye patch, taped over the modem speaker because you cannot effectively control the volume.

Hey! Are you making fun of my 56K modem? You shouldn't be. Heh...I was using a 28.8 up until three months ago. Neways, yea, I am planning on getting it in a lil bit.
