Network Protocols....

Ok I have a home network of two computers (XP Pro and 98.) on TCP/IP. Anyway I mainly play games across it and the other day I discovered my copy of Warcraft 2 can be played over the network. The problem is, the only options it gives my is
Direct Connect
Modem
IPX

I've ruled out everything except IPX. How do I set this up on both computers, and will it affect ICS and general file and Print Sharing?

IPX is just an older alternative to TCP. A lot of older games use it. IPX is incredibly easy to set up and use, much easier than TCP/IP. What you need to do is:

Go to your network settings where the different protocols are listed. Click the add button, and find the IPX protocol in the list. I don't quite remember how this looks exactly, you may have to look under a 'Standard' or 'Default' or 'Microsoft' section.

Install IPX just like that on both computers.

That's it, the game should work You start a game on one computer which becomes the host, and the other machine should be able to see that game running and connect to it.

Well... I tried installing it on both machines, but both have different names for it and I installed what looked like IPX.... but I ended up losing my network connection.... for awhile

I think it's usually listed as IPX/SPX in the list of protocols you can install.
