    How to work with variables on a calculator?

    Im sure there is a way to do this. Any ideas? Say if a want to plug in 2(3x - 6) = 7x + 2.

    On the TI83, you can use the Solver (on the Math menu). You plug in the equation so that it equals 0, and then hit [alpha][solve(enter)].

    That is the calculator that I use, so I cant help ou on any others.

    Cool thanks Zaei. The calculator that i have been using for a while is a Sharp EL-506L. When you said TI83 that rang a bell. I remember my dad found a calculator a whileback at his job and gave it to me. Since he is a school janitor he finds all of the crap students leave behind like watches, rings and calculators. I just ripped apart my room and bingo! A Texas Instruments TI-83. The thing seems like a labtop with this big screen. Pretty snazzy.

    He mostly finds change that fell out of the lockers, cheap ****ty watches and claculators. Also scanners and old computers that the school chucks away
