Am using this function with .bmp files, but from reading the SDK documentation is sounds like this is the only format that can be used.. is this true? 24-bit BMP files are pretty huge (900k for a 640x480 image), and from experimentation I can't get any other format to work. If there's a workaround or flag in the format variable that needs to be set, that the SDK mysteriously omitted, let me know
