yeah it's tough. Most ive seen don't want to pay. Most of the internships ive looked at in NYC are for non-profit orgs not actual software compaines so i think that is part of the problem at least in my area. You should try working for a consulting firm, i don't know what kind of programming you would like to do systems analyst stuff or more behind the desk type programming. I perfer being left alone myself. One of the dudes i graduated with ended up at www.setfocus.com they put him through a three month class paid him then i think it took him a little while to get placed at a commpany but he's making good $ now. So you might want to go that route.
