Hey! Do we have a Doc in the House???

Got a serious med question, a logical observation, a last possability for someone who has exhausted about all options.

BUT, I wanna ask my Q to a guy who is:

a) a docter
b) Hasn't fallen into the trap of :
if A is the problem you do B
If B is the Prob, You do C.

My View of Docs is that they Definetely do Great good, but when a nonstandard proplem comes along, they do no investigation. They stick to proscribed venues of treatment.

HELLOOOOOO!!!!!

When was the last time you heard of someones immune system
be such that it eats the platelets as they come in from a transfusion?

Obviously, a loss of RBC's and platelets would be treated as anemia.

BUT>>>>>
When they are attacked by the hosts imune system as foreign bodies, welll, thats more than normal. Abnormal more like.

Right?

And, how often would anyone have had a chance to research such phenom???

Any Docs???

My Q is based upon the points that are made to match blood.
Obviously, there are at least two such matches for blood proteins.

One of which results in the standard A,B,AB, and O. the next produces those symbols: + and -. Now, those protein matches are what is used to match blood when it comes to normal transfusions. AND, Why should ther be any more? Except for the fact that when it comes to a bone marrow transplant, there are at leaast 6 degrees of match. Right???

But, anyways, lets stick to undifferentiated blood.
Obviously, when it comes to a blood Trans, with NO complications,
The Typical 2 point is sufficient. HOWEVER, isn't it highly unusual if a hosts bodies imune system starts attacking the transfused blood?
So MUCH unusual, wouldn't you suspect that extra research into that phenomena actually did not ever occur. That they would stick to traditional treatment, before they'd look for something more specific?

In actuallity, I wonder if a transfusion from a blood match in the family,
might have a smaller rate of plate loss over a week vrs a similar situation with a transfusion from joe bloe.

I ain't no doctor, but I'd put money on blood from a family member (unless they've got HIV or something) being a far better match than someone else's, for the same type.
