Too old to Rock and Roll?
I was watching a show on some inductees into the rock and roll hall of fame today. Heart was inducted and they still sounded good and for the most part looked good. I'm no spring chicken and the first concert I ever went to was The Beatles.
Mick Jagger is seventy (or pushing it), Rod Steward, by his own admission, somtimes relies on steriods to do a concert, and Eddie Money...well I'll stop there.
Everybody is a long way away from not trusting anyone over thirty. Do you think old rockers should fade away gracefully or rock on as long as they can?
Personally I prefer they fade away gracefully and let the next generation stand in the sunlight. On the other hand, they can make money like they never could before

Re: Too old to Roack and Roll?
If they have to move out so that someone younger can step in, than that someone is probably crap. Just because some group stops doing concerts doesn't mean people instantly forget their music. If all of those you have mentioned suddenly disappeared from the Earth it still wouldn't make me listen (what little is left to listen there) to MTV.

Absolutely not, that would be the antithesis of everything rock and roll is meant to stand for. Ideally they should die in a crash, choking on vomit (ideally their own) or from a major dose of cyphalis before their thirtieth birthday but those rare few who manage to survive the debaucheries of their youth should continue to stagger on disgracefully until they shuffle (or possibly wheel) off their mortal coil.

Let's go back to rock and roll!
All men have an inherent right to life, the right to self determination including freedom from forced or compulsory labour, a right to hold opinions and the freedom of expression, and the right to a fair trial and freedom from torture. Be aware that these rights are universal and inalienable (cannot be given, taken or otherwise transferred or removed) although you do risk losing the aforementioned rights should you fail to uphold them e.g Charles Taylor; United Nations sources: http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/, http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Professional...ages/CCPR.aspx. Also Charles I was beheaded on the 30th of January of 1649 for trying to replace parliamentary democracy with an absolute monarchy, the same should happen to Dr Phil and Stephen Fry; source: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...ute-Monarchism.

Re: Too old to Rock and Roll?
My perspective being over 50 I enjoy watching some of the older groups that still have it. For me some people who still have it David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, ZZ-Top, and Rush, and of course there are many more. I watched a concert on television recently for a group called Asia, in my personal opinion the group had it together other than the singer so I would say they should never had been on stage, it was shameful. I watched a reunion of Led Zeppelin (labeled as Celebration Day) where Jimmy Page was at the top of his game, Robert Plant did not try to match his vocals from his younger days and instead adapted unlike Asia’s singer which made the LZ concert great rather than a flop.

I saw Crosby, Stills, and Nash on a televised show not that long ago. Maybe it was a bad day for them but they were off key and out of sync, I would rather of kept the memory of them I had then what they are now. I'm pushing 60...for me it is a mixed blessing. I remember Ali fighting back when fights were televised on Saturdays. I think it was him and Norton. I see him now and what those fights and years did to him. He is still Ali but is he? Now turn the eye on me. I'm certainly not what I was physically but I still feel like me.
So if I had learned to play the guitar, could carry a tune, and had some "magic" back then do I think I could still rock now. I don't think I could and everyone would be better off if I didn't. But I still would have things to offer. Kind of like when Ricky Nelson played again. Everyone just wanted the old songs
Chuck Berry can still rock and the Eagles are still awesome. I guess it depends but for the most part fading away seems like the best option. I prefer the younger memories of Ali.
