    Interacting with databases

    I want to fetch data from an oracle database using oledb and store it in a variable in vb.net to make a comparison. i also want to take the values in a variable and use it to update or insert iinto a column in a database but unfortunately i don't know how so can someone please give me some solutions.

    First up, there's no need to change the font for your post. You're just making it harder for us to read it and thereby decreasing your chance of getting help. There are many thousands of posts using the default font and they are just fine for reading.

    As for the question, follow the CodeBank link in my signature and check out my thread on Retrieving & Saving Data for some code examples of common ADO.NET scenarios. The code is for SQL Server but, as it says in that thread, you just have to change all the SqlClient types to the equivalent OleDb types. Also, note that '@' is the Microsoft parameter prefix. I believe that Oracle uses ':'.
