media buttons
i've noticed that when i got some programs open and they are on top, the media keys aren't working and apparently it doesn't matter which keyboard it is. my brother and i both tested the same program and they don't work when the program is on top (they do work if the program is not focused/on top) with 2 different machines and 2 different keyboards.
so what i was wondering is, is there a way to prevent programs from blocking these buttons?
for those not knowing which buttons i mean:

Re: media buttons
Did you install the driver for your keyboard? Mine works fine even when Windows Media Player is minimized or not in focus (behind another application window).

Re: media buttons
the media buttons do not require drivers, they are a part of windows. (WM_APPCOMMAND)
they work, but some applications are blocking the buttons when they are on top, but if i minimize or click on another application then they do work.

Re: media buttons
i believe what stanav is trying to tell you is they will work better with the correct driver. For example my media keys are customizable if i have the logitech software installed. I've used this trick to make skyrim easier to play (i mapped shouts to the center button by making it press the "z" key)
The issue may be known to the keyboard manufacturer and their software may work around it.
however... you haven't mentioned what program is messing you up, but the commands are supposed to be sent to the active window. Can you imagine the chaos if you had multiple windows open and they all responded to the play/pause commands?

Re: media buttons
yeah lol i always have like 90 processes running...
however the program is either xtrap(which is a gameguard) or a game called aika (AIKAEN.exe) either of them is hooking the keyboard and preventing the media buttons to be working. i got the correct drivers installed, i'm certain because i installed from the cd that came with the G19 keyboard. and i've made sure the drivers are up to date by using the auto update function of the software.

Re: media buttons
a standard keyboard hook passes all keystrokes back to the system the program doesn't want to use itself. For whatever reason if it is blocking those keys they made it block those keys on purpose.
