hay,
please read this
http://www.jasonmorrison.net/content...aspnet-vs-php/
this is comparing both of ASP.net and PHP
i can not actually assume that there is some language are best than the other
for example this part of the VBF are used to help the ASP.net Developers , and if you have a look at your URL you will find it php website

Re: asp or java
There are deffinitely more websites in php than asp.net the exact figures I don't know. Why I hear you ask.... well purely from what I've seen over the past 12 years php/lunix hosting is cheaper than asp/IIS hosting because php, lunix/appache and MySql are much cheaper for a hosting company to run on their servers than Microsofts win server/IIS asp.net and SQL server.
So if you can develop a website that looks and does the same thing in php as asp but host it cheaper it makes sence that php has attracted more customers.... Customers I hear you ask ... Well you can not really be a customer of php, lunix, mysql as they are free where as you are a customer of Microsoft if you are a serious developer or hosting company.
So why use asp.net - well you'll have to ask...

Well I guess with past experience with free coding languages I've found that it's difficult to find support and I spend more time reinventing the wheel than actually working on my problem.
I don't know if this is what everyone has experienced, but for me thats what I have. Thats why I stick with Micky soft.

It is a difficult one...
Different people have very different views, which can, and have, led to heated debates on the which language to use, which database server is better, etc.
My point of view would be to find what works for you, and run with it.
Personally, I like .Net, and I like where it is going.
