    hiding usb

how can we hide the usb drive in such a way that when we plug in our flash disks, it will be hidden.. it can't be viewed in my computer.. aside from not connecting the wire of the usb slot to the motherboard, are there any settings that we can change?..

    thanks guys.

I'm not sure what you mean! However, I would think it is possible to configure the usb setup in the bios via the setup option (when the computer starts).

    Re: hiding usb

When I go to Disk Management (in Vista's Computer Management) I can choose to delete the drive letter from my USB thumb drive.
    It's then hidden in Explorer.
When I remove it, and plug it back it, the autorun no longer works.
I don't know if you can still write to it, or what would happen with multiple USB drives, or when the drive letters change.
(I'm not sure if the names used above are correct, I'm using a Dutch version of Windows )

    Re: hiding usb

are you wanting to block usb drives on one system, or are you wanting to block one disk from being used on any system?

#1: Group policy settings can prevent users from installing hardware, and this includes usb drives.

#2: You can apply encryption to the drive based on user accounts so it's only useable on one particular system.

if it's a particular system you're wanting to hide the drive on, you can create a mount point for the disk instead of assigning it a drive letter, and then hide that directory.
